Are you ready for some football!? The Big Game is this weekend, and I can’t wait! One of my favorite things about football game days is ALL of the party food. I can’t get enough of delicious party appetizers, and these bratwurst and vegetable shish kabob skewers are a tasty twist on a classic family favorite. I usually pair my shish kabob vegetables with slow-marinated chicken, but this time I swapped it out for juicy Johnsonville Brats – packed full of flavor so you can skip the marinating step and be ready for the Big Game in no time!

Ingredients for Johnsonville Brat and Veggie Skewers

What You’ll Need for Shish Kabob Skewers:

  • Johnsonville Brats (we used Naturals)
  • Vegetables/Fruits of Your Choice – we used zucchini, onion, red bell pepper, and pineapple.
  • Wooden Skewers, cut in half (the perfect size for appetizers!)
  • Grill – indoor or outdoor

Making Grilled Brat and Veggie Skewers

Wash the vegetables and cut them into bite-sized pieces, then cut each Johnsonville brat into 6-8 pieces.

Thread the brats and veggie pieces onto the skewers, and cook on a pre-heated (medium heat) grill for 15-20 minutes, turning frequently until the internal temperature of the sausage reaches 160 degrees. Note: when using an indoor grill pan, cover the skewers with a large lid to trap the heat and ensure thorough cooking.

YUM! These brat and vegetable shish kabob skewers are amazingly delicious, and I can’t believe that I’ve never swapped sausage for my standard go-to chicken before…but I will most definitely be doing it again in the future! I love that the Johnsonville Naturals Brats are 100% natural and made with high-quality ingredients with no preservatives or fillers, so I can feel good about serving them to my family and our party guests. Plus, did I mention that they taste incredible!?

For game time, I like to serve my shish kabob skewers with a dipping sauce made from a combination of equal parts coconut aminos and our favorite teriyaki sauce. Honestly though, if sauces aren’t your thing, you can totally skip it – they’re crazy good as-is!
